Required to deposit rupees by 15th- If you invest in PPF, you must know that you are required to deposit rupees by 15th of the month. If you don’t, you won’t get interest for that month. You can deposit up to 1.5 lakh rupees annually in PPF. If you deposit money in PPF account around 20th, understand that you will not get interest for that month. If you deposit on or before April 5, you will get higher interest.
Interest rate in PPF- PPF is currently paying interest at 7.1 percent per annum. The Finance Ministry has not changed the interest rate of PPF for a long time. Interest is accrued on the minimum balance between the 5th of every month and the end of the month. If you deposit money after 5th, you will get interest on it next month.
How many accounts can be opened?- If you want to open a Public Provident Fund account, a person can open the account only once. If you are already running two accounts as per the decision made by Govt. More than 1 account opened after 12 December 2019 will be closed. Also, no interest will be earned on such account. Apart from this, the government has also put a stop to the linking of many PPF accounts.
