Under the Aasra Pension Yojana, the state government has given a big gift to the disabled.
Increase in pension amount
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday increased the quantum of pension given to them by ₹1000. With this, now ₹ 4016 per month will be made available to them as pension. It was announced by the Chief Minister. Now order has been issued for this. This is the highest assistance given by any state government to persons with disabilities. This increase will be implemented from this month itself.
Please tell that earlier the amount of pension was 3016 which has been increased to 4016. Enhanced assistance will be paid to all eligible pensioners falling under the Divyang category under the Shram Pension Yojana. This was announced while addressing a public meeting on 9 June. Now the order has also been issued. This will benefit more than 500000 pensioners.
Tamil Nadu: 1200 rupees instead of 1000 to pensioners
Huge preparations have been made by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Under this, the amount of monthly pension provided under various social security schemes including old age pension has also been increased. The benefit of this increase will be available from the month of August. 1200 will be made available to pensioners instead of ₹1000 from August. This will benefit more than 30 lakh beneficiaries receiving pension and will see an additional expenditure of Rs 845.91 crore to the state exchequer. An important decision on this has been taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister MK Stalin at the State Secretariat on Saturday.
Giving information in this matter, the Finance Minister said that under the Social Security Scheme, more than 3055000 beneficiaries are receiving monthly pension. The same 74000 persons have applied for monthly pension under various schemes. Out of which the pension amount has been approved immediately for the eligible persons. The monthly pension scheme was introduced in Tamil Nadu in 1962. Out of the pension given to different categories of beneficiaries, the pension for persons with disabilities has been increased from ₹1000 to ₹1500 from January this year.
While speaking on the demand of the government employees to return the old pension scheme in the state, the Finance Minister said that the Central Government has constituted a committee headed by Union Finance Secretary Somnath to review the pension scheme. Some important decisions have also been taken by the Andhra Pradesh government. All these developments are being studied by the Government of Tamil Nadu to arrive at this decision. Whichever of these systems would be suitable for the state. It will be discussed with the Chief Minister.
