Government Scheme: Government of India runs many schemes to make women self-reliant and financially empowered. One of which is Mahila Samman Bachat Patra Yojana. This scheme was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Budget 2023-24. It has started from 1 April 2023.

Women can also open more than one account under the scheme. Presently it is getting better returns. Investments can be made in the investment scheme till March 31, 2025. At present, the government is paying 7.5 per cent interest on the scheme. Investing is done in multiples of 100. The maximum investment limit is Rs 2 lakh.

On Monday, the government told in the Lok Sabha that under the Mahila Samman Bachat Patra Yojana, more than 14 lakh accounts have been opened so far. A total of Rs 8630 crore has been raised so far. In view of the increasing popularity of the scheme, the Central Government has started this scheme in post offices and public sector banks as well as in many other private banks. Women can open accounts in Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank and ICICI Bank.
