Old pension scheme: Major preparations are being made by the state government. Under this, the employees of the state can get the benefit of the old pension scheme. Demand for old pension scheme intensifies
The demand for old pension scheme by Maharashtra government employees has intensified. After which the committee was formed for the implementation and study recommendation of the old pension scheme for all the government employees of the state. The committee was given three months to submit its report. However, after the work of the report was not completed in 3 months, it was given an extension of another 2 months. Till now no update has been revealed on the report. More than a week has passed since this expansion ended.
The committee will submit the report soon
It is believed that soon the committee can submit its report to the government. Further action will be completed after the report is submitted. In fact, an indefinite strike was announced by all the employees of Maharashtra in the month of March. All the workers had gone on an indefinite strike since March 14. After which the strike continued till 21 March. To end the strike, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured all the employees to set up a committee on the old pension scheme and implement the scheme based on the recommendation.
Constitution of a four-member committee
However, as per these assurances, the indefinite strike by the employees was called off. A four-member committee was also constituted by the government in the month of March itself under the chairmanship of retired Indian Administrative Service officer Subodh Kumar. The committee was given three months time to submit the report. After which it has also been given an additional extension of 2 months. The extension date is also almost over. In this matter, State General Secretary of Clerical Rights Council Umakant Suryavanshi says that the rule given by the state government has ended. Five months have passed since the strike ended, but the report of the committee appointed in this regard has not been submitted yet. The government should implement the old pension scheme with immediate effect otherwise all the employees will vote against the government in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha elections.
It may be noted that after 2005 in Maharashtra, all government employees who had joined various departments of the state government were excluded from the old pension scheme. Contributory Pension Scheme and National Pension Scheme were implemented for the employees. After the implementation of the old pension scheme in about eight states of the country, the demand of all the government employees has intensified. All the government employees are demanding to implement the old pension scheme from back, after which assurance has also been given by the government. The committee is expected to submit its report soon. Based on this further process can be completed.
