IMD Alert: Orange alert for next 72 hours of heavy rain in 17 states, warning of thunderstorms and landslides, know forecast of Meteorological Department

According to the Meteorological Department, the rain activity in these districts is going to continue for 7 days at present. Changes are being seen in the weather due to the moisture coming from the Bay of Bengal, including the local system being active.

Effect of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh

Heavy rains in four divisions of Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rain has been predicted in four divisions of Madhya Pradesh. From 22 to 27 August, full forecast of heavy rains was given in these areas. Heavy rain warning has been issued in Rewa Sagar and Shahdol divisions including Gwalior. The rain activity is going to continue in Himachal Pradesh for the time being. At the same time, an alert has also been issued by the state government regarding landslides.

In Shimla, heavy rain has been forecast at most places in Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Una during the next 72 hours. Instructions have also been given to keep the schools closed till August 24. A red orange red alert has been issued for heavy rains in Tripura including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram. Landslide warning has been issued. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will remain like this for the next 72 hours. People have been instructed to be alert. Light rain forecast in some areas

  • Heavy rainfall is likely at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
  • Fairly widespread rain and isolated thunderstorm is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, West Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
