According to sources, the Modi government, which is facing constant attacks from the opposition regarding expensive LPG cylinders, has decided to cut the prices of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 200. However, this benefit will be available only to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This decision of the Modi government will put a burden of Rs 7500 crore on the exchequer.
400 rupees cheaper cylinder to PM Ujjwala beneficiaries!
Last year, when there was a sharp jump in the prices of crude oil and gas in the international market due to the Russia-Ukraine war, in May 2022, the Modi government gave a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder to the beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Yojana for getting 12 cylinders refilled in a year. Started whose term was extended till March 31, 2024. Despite this, those who get cylinders under this scheme are spending Rs 900. This is the reason that in order to give relief to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana, the central government has now decided to give an additional subsidy of Rs 200 on LPG cylinder.

9.58 crore are the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala scheme
The scheme was launched by PM Modi on May 1, 2016. At present, a total of more than 9.58 crore are the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. In today’s date, common people have to spend Rs 1103 for refilling a non-subsidised LPG cylinder. The government has given relief to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. But those who will refill the cylinder other than this scheme will still have to spend Rs 1103 for refilling the LPG cylinder.
