UIDAI New Circular: Date extended ! This work related to Aadhaar will now be free till December 14, check details

Aadhaar Card Free Update: Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI has given the facility to update it online for free in the last month of March and now you can do this work completely free till 14 December 2023.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now extended the deadline to update it for free, giving great convenience to Aadhaar card users. This is the second consecutive time that it is being extended. Earlier, the date for free updating of Aadhaar card was fixed for June 14, 2023, but before that it was extended for three months till September 14. Now once again UIDAI has announced to extend this facility till 14 December 2023.

Free update facility continues from March 15

Aadhaar Card has become the biggest means of identification of people in today’s time. Apart from this, whether it is availing benefits of various government schemes or opening a bank account, it is required everywhere. Therefore, it is very important to update the documents related to it. Although, there is a fee to get this work done, but UIDAI has given the facility to get it updated online for free in the month of March and now you can get this work done absolutely free till 14 December 2023.

Update through My Aadhaar Portal

UIDAI has said in an official memorandum that the government is giving additional time of three months to more and more people to update their Aadhaar documents and this work can now be updated for free through myAadhaar portal till December 14. . It is noteworthy that UIDAI has asked the Aadhaar card holder to update the documents given in it once after completion of 10 years from the date of enrolment. This work can be easily completed sitting at home.

How to update Aadhaar through portal

  • First go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.
  • After logging in, click on ‘Update Name/Gender/Date of Birth and Address’ option.
  • If you want to update the address then select the option of Update Address.
  • After this, enter your registered mobile number, enter OTP and proceed.
  • Select the document update option. Now your Aadhaar details will appear.
  • Verify by checking the details shown on the screen and proceed further.
  • After this you will have to upload a copy of the address proof for address proof.
  • Now once the Aadhaar update is accepted, a 14 digit Update Request Number (URN) will be generated.
  • Through this number you can track the updates made in your Aadhaar.

Had to pay this much for this work

Till now, Aadhaar Card Holder had to pay a fee of Rs 25 online and Rs 50 offline for making any kind of update in his card. That is, if you went to the Aadhaar Center to get the document updated, then Rs 50 was charged. If this work was done through myAadhaar Portal, then a fee of Rs 25 had to be paid. But from March 15, 2023, the facility of online Aadhaar update is absolutely free.
