Ujjwala Scheme: The Union Cabinet has given great news for the beneficiaries under the government scheme Ujjwala Yojana. Now the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will get gas cylinders for Rs 600. The government has increased the subsidy under this scheme. After the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced that “the government has increased the subsidy amount for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per cylinder.”

What is PMUY (Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana)?
The Government of India gives subsidy for LPG connection under this scheme. Rs 1600 for 14.2 kg cylinder / Rs 1150 for 5 kg cylinder is provided. This cash assistance includes:
- Security deposit for cylinder – Rs 1250 for 14.2 kg cylinder, Rs 800 for 5 kg cylinder.
- Pressure regulator – Rs 150. LPG hose – Rs 100.
- Domestic Gas Consumer Card – Rs 25
- Inspection/Installation/Demonstration Fee- Rs 75
Apart from this, interest free loan facility is also provided to the beneficiaries of the scheme by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). This loan covers the charges for LPG stove (Rs. 565 for 1 burner stove, Rs. 990 for 2 burner stove) and the refill cost of the first LPG cylinder received at the time of connection.
