69th National Film Awards: Waheeda Rehman was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Awards on Tuesday. The actress is seen becoming very emotional on this occasion.
New Delhi: Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award in Indian Cinema at the 69th National Film Awards on Tuesday. This award has been given to her for her invaluable contribution to the industry. Waheeda Rehman was also seen getting a little emotional on this occasion.
Waheeda Rehman in the industry for 7 decades
Known for films like ‘Guide’, ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Sahab Bibi Aur Ghulam’, ‘Delhi-6’, ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ and many more, Waheeda has played countless memorable characters on celluloid and her career spans almost 7 decades. Lasted till. President Draupadi Murmu, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur were also present at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony held in the national capital.
Waheeda was looking beautiful
Talking about Waheeda’s look, on this occasion she had arrived wearing a cream and golden colored saree and was wearing a green colored necklace and matching earrings. She had tied her hair in a bun and had minimal make-up. The President and other dignitaries present on this occasion gave the actress a standing ovation.
Waheeda wanted to become a doctor
A video of Waheeda was played in the auditorium, in which glimpses of her films were shown. Waheeda can be seen saying in the video: ‘My father was an IAS officer, and was broad-minded. In my childhood, I dreamed of becoming a doctor, but then I developed a passion for dancing. My parents didn’t stop me. After learning dance, I came into films.
Waheeda enumerated her memorable films
She further said, ‘First of all, I did the Telugu film ‘Rojulu Marayi’ in 1955, in which I had a dance sequence and it was successful. Then I got my first Hindi film ‘CID’ (1956). ‘Guide’ is my favorite because it is a different character. I always believe in good work and I have always listened to my heart. I want people to remember me as a good person.
Waheeda became emotional
The 85-year-old actress became emotional after receiving the award. After receiving the award, Waheeda said, ‘I feel very honored. The position where I stand today is because of my beloved film industry. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to work with top directors, producers, writers, technicians and music directors. Gave a lot of respect, got a lot of love.
Waheeda wants to do everything in the film industry
She further said, ‘I also thank my makeup artist, hair and costume designer, who have played an important role in my career. That is why I want to share this award with all the departments of our film industry. No one person can make a complete picture alone, the producer needs all of us. The film is completed with everyone’s contribution. Thank you very much to all of you.
