Firstly, the pressure has increased due to the closure of Go First Airlines and also due to the boiling of crude oil, air fuel has become expensive for the airlines due to which the air fares have become expensive.
Air travel up to 200% more expensive during festive season
Air travel has become the most expensive during Diwali and Chhath festivals. You will have to pay 200 to 300 percent more rent. If you look at the airfare on travel portals, Diwali is on 12th November and between 9th to 11th November, the airfare is available at Rs 12,173 to Rs 15,026 per person. Whereas for November 2, airlines are charging Rs 4392. If someone wants to go from Mumbai to Patna for Diwali and Chhath festival, then he will have to spend Rs 12934 to Rs 18,152 for the journey between 9 to 17 November. Before Diwali, between 9th and 11th November, the air fare from Mumbai to Jaipur has increased from Rs 8739 to Rs 9384.
If we look at the airfare from Bengaluru to Patna, on normal days the airfare is around Rs 9200. On Diwali and Chhath festival, the air fare has gone up from Rs 13,800 to Rs 20,500 i.e. it has directly doubled.
Effect of expensive air fuel!
Crude oil prices are rising in the international markets. Government oil companies had increased the prices of crude oil on October 1. And now after the increase in crude oil prices due to Israel-Hamas war, government oil companies can again increase the prices of ATF. In such a situation, air travel can become even more expensive. On the other hand, Go First had canceled flights from May 3, 2023 due to its financial crisis, which cannot start till now. In such a situation, the number of flights has reduced, while a huge increase in the number of passengers is seen during festivals. This is the reason why air travel has become very expensive during festivals.
