Cyclone Hamoon Update: Big News! Alert of heavy rain in 7 states due to Cyclone Hamon, know how much impact it will have

IMD Cyclone Update: The Meteorological Department has issued an update regarding cyclonic storm Hamun. Rain warning has been issued in seven states including West Bengal, Odisha, Mizoram and Meghalaya.

Cyclone Update: IMD has issued a new update regarding the cyclonic storm Hamun rising in the Bay of Bengal. At the same time, the Meteorological Department also said about the cyclonic storm ‘Tej’ that it can cross the Yemen-Oman coasts today i.e. Tuesday (24 October), which will be a very severe cyclonic storm. Along with this, an advisory has been issued for the fishermen and it has been said that they should not go to the West Central Arabian Sea till the night of 25th October.

Giving information about Cyclonic Storm Hamoon, the Meteorological Department said that during the last 6 hours, the deep pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal moved northwards at a speed of 14 kilometers per hour and turned into a cyclonic storm. According to IMD, it is likely to turn into a severe cyclonic storm over the north-west Bay of Bengal during the next 12 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning in seven states including West Bengal, Odisha, Mizoram and Meghalaya.

Odisha government has directed all the district magistrates to be prepared to deal with any emergency. Meanwhile, in West Bengal, the Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorm and moderate rain with lightning in parts of East Medinipur, Kolkata and South 24 Parganas districts.

‘Tej’ changed into severe cyclonic storm

According to PTI agency, earlier the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the cyclone ‘Tej’ that arose in the Arabian Sea turned into a very severe cyclonic storm on Sunday and is moving towards the Yemen-Oman coasts. The IMD said the cyclonic storm is expected to move north-westwards and cross the Yemen-Oman coasts between Al Gaidah (Yemen) and Salalah (Oman) around noon on October 24. During a severe cyclonic storm, the wind speed can reach from 115-125 km per hour to 140 km per hour.

A statement said that the severe cyclonic storm ‘Tej’ has turned into an extremely severe cyclonic storm. At 8:30 am on Sunday, it was centered about 160 km east-southeast of Socotra (Yemen), 540 km south-east of Salalah (Oman) and 550 km south-east of Al Ghaidah (Yemen). IMD also said that the pressure over west-central Bay of Bengal may intensify into a deep depression by Monday morning. The statement said that after this, it is expected to move towards Bangladesh and nearby West Bengal coasts and north-northeast in the next three days.
