India-Canada Row: The Government of India has decided to resume visa services for some Canadian citizens. However, visa service will be available only in four categories, which include entry, business, medical and conference visas.
Let us tell you that amidst tension in diplomatic relations between India and Canada, India had suspended visa services for Canadians.
Will be effective from 26th October
In a notification on Wednesday, the Indian High Commission in Canada wrote, ‘After reviewing the security situation, taking into account certain recent Canadian measures in this regard, it has been decided to resume visa services.’ Let us tell you that the resumption of visa services will be effective from Thursday i.e. 26th October.
Jaishankar had made this demand
Earlier on Sunday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said that if Indian diplomats are provided protection in Canada as per the Vienna Convention, he would like ‘to resume issuing visas’. He said India has stopped issuing visas to Canada as it is no longer safe for our diplomats to go to work to issue visas.
