SIM Card Rules: Big News! New rules for purchasing SIM will be applicable from December 1, know how many SIMs you will be able to keep

SIM Card Rules: The Government of India is preparing to tighten the reins to stop online scams and fraud calls. For this, the Department of Telecommunications has issued new rules for buying and selling SIM cards to prevent fraud calls. These rules will be implemented in the entire country from December 1. Earlier this rule was to be implemented from October 1, 2023.

SIM Card Rules: The Central Government has changed the rules for buying and selling SIM cards. This change was made in the month of August. After this, this change was to be implemented from October 1, 2023. But could not be implemented. The government has now decided to implement these new rules in the entire country from December 1, 2023. A senior official associated with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has given this information. Telecom companies had asked for time to implement it. On which the Department of Telecommunications has given additional time of 2 months to the telecom companies to implement it.

After the implementation of these new rules, only a limited number of SIMs will be able to be purchased on one ID. This means that buying extra SIM will be tightened. Under the new rules, SIM card sellers will have to go through the KYC process before being registered and joining the system.

A fine of Rs 10 lakh may be imposed

After the implementation of the new rules, strict action can be taken against those who buy SIMs in bulk. According to the new rule, if after November 30, any telecom company allows any seller to sell SIM without registration. Then in such a situation a fine of Rs 10 lakh can be imposed on him. All dealers are required to register by 30 November 2023. In the process of this registration, a written agreement will be necessary between the SIM card seller and the telecom companies. New rules have been made by the government to prevent the menace of fake SIM cards and financial fraud.

There are 10 lakh SIM card sellers in the country

Actually, there are many SIM card sellers who were issuing SIM cards without proper verification. Not only this, they themselves were involved in such illegal activities. The government said SIM card sellers involved in illegal activities would be debarred and blacklisted for a period of three years. At present there are about 10 lakh SIM card sellers in the country.
