LPG News: Major changes are made in many important rules by the Central Government in the country at the beginning of the month. It has announced to implement new prices of LPG gas cylinders from November 1. Let us know this news in detail…
New Delhi: LPG cylinder rates will also be updated on November 1 amid the assembly elections in five states. On August 30, about two months before the elections being held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana, the Modi government gave a big relief by reducing the price of domestic LPG cylinder (LPG) by Rs 200. Now 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is available in Delhi for Rs 903.
From political corridors to squares, people were calling it an election master stroke of the Modi government that on October 1, the price of commercial cylinder was increased to Rs 209.
In Delhi, 19 kg commercial cylinder became costlier by Rs 209. Whereas in Kolkata the price increased by Rs 203.50, the consumers of Mumbai got a shock of Rs 202.
In Chennai also the rate was increased by Rs 203 per cylinder. Now the question is whether there will be any change in the price of LPG cylinder between the elections or not?
Five years ago in 2018, elections were held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana in November-December. During this period, the price of LPG cylinder was changed thrice.
The benchmark price of domestic LPG cylinder increased from Rs 879 in Delhi to Rs 939 on November 1, 2018.
Six days later, on November 7, the rates were updated once again and the price reached Rs 942.50. That means, between the elections, LPG cylinder became expensive.
Cylinder became cheaper by Rs 133 after elections:
The counting of votes for the elections in the five states took place on December 11 and the BJP government in Rajasthan had to face defeat.
Got a fractured mandate in Madhya Pradesh. Congress got 114 seats and BJP 109 seats. Both remained away from the majority of 116 seats. BJP’s victory in Chhattisgarh was wiped out. Congress came to power with an overwhelming majority. KCR’s magic worked again in Telangana.
However, before this, on December 1, 2018, the rates of LPG cylinders were updated again and people got great relief. Domestic LPG cylinder rates were reduced by Rs 133.
In such a situation, now it has to be seen whether cylinder prices will increase in November this time too like last time or not? And even if it increases, will there be as much relief on December 1, 2023 as it was 5 years ago? This time the election results of all five states are coming on 3 December.
