New Delhi: Even if the bill is outstanding, electricity will not be cut on Diwali. Yogi Adityanath government has given big relief to the consumers of UP on the festival. For this, the Chairman of Power Corporation issued instructions to the officers on Sunday.
This will provide relief to domestic category electricity defaulters in both urban and rural areas. The Power Corporation Chairman, through video conferencing on Sunday, instructed the officers not to cut off the electricity of any domestic category defaulter till the festivals.
Meanwhile, despite the holiday on Sunday, all the distribution divisions and sub-divisions of the Electricity Corporation remained open. The MD of Purvanchal Corporation had given instructions to open cash counters along with opening of offices due to less revenue collection this month.
According to last month’s data in the Urban Distribution Board, the number of consumers in Gorakhpur is 2.28 lakh. Out of these, regular electricity bills of 1.20 lakh consumers are made.
Whereas about 40 thousand consumers pay the bill in two to three months. There are records of 20 thousand consumers, but they are in non-traceable category.
There are about 40 thousand consumers who remain in the category of defaulters. In such a situation, these defaulters have got relief from power cuts till the festival.
Final decision on material rates of electricity connection today
On the other hand, a meeting of the Electricity Supply Code Review Panel Sub Committee has been called on October 30 for the final discussion on the proposed new cast data book for rates of consumer goods for new electricity connections in Uttar Pradesh.
The meeting will be presided over by Commission Chairman Arvind Kumar. Consumer Council President Awadhesh Kumar Verma has said that the council has also included the proposal of giving 33 percent rate relaxation to rural women and 15 percent rate relaxation to urban women for taking a new connection in the agenda of this meeting.
Electricity will not be cut even for a minute
CM Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the entire state on the occasion of Dhanteras and Diwali. The department has directed all concerned officers and discoms for this. According to the orders, there will be no power cut even for a minute during the festival.
