After December 31, 2023, UPI ID of many customers will be closed. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had also issued a circular regarding this on November 7 this year. Actually, in the circular, payment apps have been asked to deactivate the UPI ID of those customers who have not used UPI for one year, i.e., those whose UPI has been inactive for one year.
If you do not want your UPI ID to be deactivated, then ensure that it is used at least once in a year. Customers must also check the phone number associated with their UPI ID and ensure that it has not been inactive for more than three months.
The use of UPI has increased significantly in the country. In the NPCI circular, TPAP and PSP banks have been directed to identify the UPI ID, associated UPI number and phone number of those customers who have not done any financial or non-financial transaction through UPI for one year.
