Bone-shivering cold conditions persist in Kashmir

Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 12 degrees Celsius, down from minus 10.5 degrees last night. Wednesday night in Gulmarg was the coldest night in the valley as the temperature dropped below freezing. Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 11.9 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag and Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded minimum temperatures of minus 4.5 degrees and minus 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 5.2 degrees Celsius. In this winter season, the minimum temperature in Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Qazigund and Srinagar remained about five degrees below normal. Currently, a period of 20 days of Chilla-e-Khurd (small cold) is going on in the valley.
