IRCTC-Swiggy Deal: There is a good news for the passengers traveling by train. Now they will not have to worry much about food and drink while travelling. IRCTC is continuously working in this direction. In this regard, IRCTC has signed a deal with online food delivery app Swiggy. In such a situation, now the passengers traveling in the train will neither be forced to eat food sold on the platform nor will they have to be disappointed by eating food prepared in the pantry car. They will be able to order hot food of their choice in the train through Swiggy.

Facility will be available at A1 and A2 class stations of Railways

IRCTC has made this deal to further strengthen the food ordering system. This facility will be available at A1 and A2 class stations of the Railways. There are more than 350 stations in this category across the country. The train stops for a long time at these stations. It will start from 4 stations Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The facility will be expanded to 60 stations in the next 6 months.

Only restaurant rates will apply

After this deal between IRCTC and Swiggy, now passengers traveling by train will be able to order on Swiggy through the IRCTC e-Catering portal. Passengers will have to order in time. Swiggy people will be present at the station to deliver the orders to the passengers. While ordering food from Swiggy, only restaurant rates will be applicable for passengers. However, the charge for delivery will be slightly higher than normal. Let us tell you that before Swiggy, IRCTC had also made a deal with Zomato for pre-order food delivery in trains. The deal with Zomato is currently at 63 stations. Gradually their services will expand.

This is what CMD has to say

In this matter, IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sanjay Kumar Jain says that at present we are increasing the focus on e-Catering. The target is to increase 60 thousand daily deliveries to 1 lakh. A total of 18 aggregators including Swiggy are currently part of the portfolio. Some more will be added soon. We are continuously working on food and its quality.

Soon monitoring will be increased with the use of AI and technology. The supervisor present in the train will get real time updates. Action will be easier if complaints are received directly on Rail Madad portal. The use of base kitchens is being increased to improve quality. Now passengers can order food with the help of the app. The order process will be completed in a few seconds. A little extra charge will have to be paid. There will be another delivery partner at the station who will deliver the food to the berth.
