Bank Open on Monday: The Reserve Bank has decided to keep the banks open on 31 March. For this, the Central Bank has released the list of agency banks.
Banks will be open on Sunday 31 March 2024: Taking a big decision, the Reserve Bank of India has ordered to keep all agency banks open on Sunday i.e. 31 March 2024. The Central Bank has given this information on Wednesday. RBI said that despite March 31, 2024 being a Sunday, all banks will work normally as it is the last day of the financial year 2023-24.
Why will banks remain open on Sunday?
Like every year, March 31 is the last day of this financial year. In such a situation, all the transactions of this year should be recorded in this financial year. In such a situation, RBI has taken this decision to ensure that there is no problem in the transactions taking place at the end of the year. According to the information given on the RBI website, under Section 45 of the RBI Act, all government and some private sector banks will function normally on March 31. Along with this, the opening timings of these banks will remain the same as normal days. Along with this, NEFT and RTGS transactions will be done till 12 midnight. Special arrangements have been made for clearing of government cheques.

The banks which will function normally on March 31 include Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, Indian Bank, State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, Axis Bank, City Union Bank, DCB Bank Limited, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, IDFC First Bank, IndusInd Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Karnataka Bank , Karur Vysya Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, RBL Bank, South Indian Bank, Yes Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Bandhan Bank, CSB Bank, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank and DBS Bank.
Income Tax Department offices will remain open
Apart from banks, Income Tax Department offices will also remain open on March 31. The IT Department has canceled the holidays of Good Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday. In such a situation, the IT department will continue to work on all three days, 29, 30 and 31 March. The department has taken this decision due to the end of the financial year.
