Driving License: Make a driving license at home without going to RTO office, apply online like this

Driving License: If you want to get a driving license but do not want to visit the RTO office, then there is an option to apply online. For learner’s license, the test is also done online and the license is sent home.

Driving License: If you are old enough to drive a two-wheeler or four-wheeler but have not yet got your Driving License (DL), then get it done immediately. The good thing is that to get a drivers license, you do not need to worry about visiting the RTO office. Whether you are getting a license for the first time or want to renew an old license, you can apply online from home.

The method of applying for a license may be slightly different in different states but the main process is almost the same. There are four types of licenses made in India, which are Learning License, Permanent Driving License, Commercial Driving License and International Driving Permit. The process to apply for these may be different.

This is the way to apply online

  • First of all go to the official website of Transport Vibhag https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/.
  • After this go to the Drivers/Learner License section and tap on ‘more’.
  • Now select your state and click or tap on ‘Apply for Learner License’.
  • After reading the instructions shown on the screen, click on ‘Continue’.
  • Tap on ‘Submit Via Aadhaar Authentication’ to apply easily with the help of Aadhaar card.
  • After entering the Aadhaar number, you will have to enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
  • Enter the information asked on the screen like email ID and phone number and after tapping on the yellow Self Declaration (Form 1) button, answer the questions related to your health.

Now submit the application by uploading the necessary documents.

To get a learner’s license sitting at home, one will have to give ‘Online LL Test (STAL)’ on the Sarathi portal after the stipulated time of submitting the application. In this test, questions related to traffic rules are asked and after completion of the stipulated time, if you pass the test, you get a learner’s license. This license is available sitting at home but after this one has to go to the RTO office and take a test to get a permanent driving license. The fee for getting the license may vary from state to state depending on the type of license.
