DGCA new rules: An instruction has been issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), in which plans are underway to make the base fare of flights more affordable for passengers.
New rule to impact flight ticket prices: If you too are troubled by the huge flight fares, then now you can soon get relief from expensive flight tickets. An instruction has been issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), in which planning is underway to make the base fare of flights more affordable for passengers.
DGCA says that the fixed fares issued by the airlines also include the fees charged on some services provided by them. Based on the feedback received from different places, it has been seen that many times passengers do not need these services provided by the airlines during the journey.
Circular has been issued
DGCA has said in the circular that by separating the services and their charges, the basic fare can be more economical. With this, consumers get the option to pay for the services they want to avail. The differentiated services should be provided on an ‘opt-in’ basis and not on an ‘opt-out’ basis.
DGCA has released a list of 7 services, which if excluded from the ticket cost, can make the base fare much more affordable.
>> Seat selection charge for passenger
>>Meal/Snacks/Drink Charges
>> Fees for using airline lounges
>> Check in Baggage Charges
>> Sports Equipment Charges
>>Musical Equipment Charges
>>Special declaration fee for valuable baggage
Scheduled airlines will be permitted to offer ‘zero baggage/no-check-in baggage fares’ along with free baggage allowance as part of the airline baggage policy. Along with this, DGCA has said that if you bring luggage for check-in at the airline counter, you will be given information about the applicable charges. Along with this, it will also be printed on the ticket.
