Delhi University Fees Relaxation: There is big news on Delhi University SOL fees. DU SOL will waive the fees of those girl students who get 8.5 CGPA or more marks. This announcement has been made by the institute on the 62nd anniversary of School of Open Learning, DU. This benefit will be available from this session 2024-25.
Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar attended the celebration of the 62nd year of the School of Open Learning (SOL) of Delhi University. As chief guest, Jagdeep said that open learning is also our cultural heritage. He said that two characteristics are visible in the ancient education system, formal education and informal education. Gurukuls were the medium of formal education while families were the medium of informal education. Today SOL is doing this work in an institutional manner. This has made informal education equivalent to formal education.
DU SOL Fees Waiver: Fees will be waived from this session onwards
In this program held at the Convention Hall of DU on Monday, it was announced that DU SOL will now waive the fees of girls who score 8.5 CGPA. Director of SOL, Prof. Payal Mago informed that this will be applicable from session 2024-25 and the entire fees of the coming year will be waived.
He told that despite not taking any assistance from the government, it has given scholarship to poor students with an amount of Rs 2 crore in the last session.
60% CA DU SOL students of Delhi!
Presiding over the program, Delhi University VC Prof. Yogesh Singh said that 60% of Chartered Accountants (CA) in Delhi are students of SOL. Many lawyers, civil servants, teachers and politicians have also been students of SOL.
He told that SOL was started in 1962 with 900 students and two subjects. Today in 2024, about 4 lakh students are getting education in more than 17 courses in SOL. There are 1 lakh 80 thousand students in BA program alone. He said that the syllabus and examination pattern of SOL is the same as the regular one, only the method of teaching is different.
The Vice President also honored 3 students of SOL. These include awarding to two DU topper students Payal Singh (Topper, BA Library Science) and Nancy Goyal (Topper, MA Political Science) as well as Arjun Award winner Deeksha Dagar.
