Weather Update: Warning of severe heat from Delhi to UP-Bihar, when will there be relief rain; IMD told

Weather Update 18 May: Severe heat wave hit many parts of North-West India on Friday. The mercury crossed 45 degrees Celsius at 19 places in Rajasthan, 18 in Haryana, eight in Delhi and two places in Punjab. There is a possibility of severe heat in the north-west plains during the next five days. IMD warned that severe heat conditions are likely over parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi during May 18-21. A fresh phase of heat will begin in eastern and central India from Saturday. At the same time, the temperature has increased in the lower and central hills of Himachal and the maximum temperature reached 43.2 degrees Celsius in Una of the state, which was the hottest area of the state.

The weather office issued a red alert for western Rajasthan, stressing the need for extreme care for vulnerable people. Apart from this, orange alert has been issued for Haryana, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat. Emphasized high health concerns for infants, the elderly and those with chronic diseases. People exposed to the sun for long periods of time or doing heavy work have been warned of increased chances of heat-related illnesses.

He said, “From April till recent days, western disturbances have continuously affected northwest India. This has led to isolated rains in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This has made the temperature relatively moderate. However, the temperature rose in May and reached 45 degrees Celsius at many places across the country.

Emphasizing the seriousness of the situation, he said, “The temperature in Rajasthan has already reached 45 degrees Celsius. In Punjab and Haryana, the temperature has reached close to 44 degrees Celsius. The heatwave situation in these areas is similar to that of Uttar Pradesh. ” He has predicted heat wave to continue for the next five days in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and for four days in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. After this, there is a possibility of relief from light storm and rain.

Regarding the southern states, he said, “Heavy rains are expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Karnataka in the next five days.”
