EPFO Pension Scheme: EPFO gives 7 types of pension to wife, children and parents, know how to get the benefit

EPFO Pension Scheme: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) provides pension facility to its members, which is a support for your regular income on retirement. EPFO ​​runs a pension scheme called EPS-1995, which gives many benefits. This scheme supports families in financial difficulties. Also, under this scheme, a claim can be made for regular income for a long time.

Under EPS-1995, seven types of pension are given, the rules and conditions for claiming all are different. Let us know how many types of pensions are given under this pension scheme and who can avail it?

Super annuity or old age pension

It is given on completion of 10 years of membership and 58 years of age. If 10 years of membership is completed and the age is 58 years, then you will start getting pension from the very next day. Even if the service is cancelled after 58 years, he will start getting pension from the next day.


Prior pension

If someone leaves the job after completing 10 years of membership and does not work in any such institution where EPF Act is applicable, then he can take prior pension after completing 50 years of age. Or he can wait till the age of 58 and take full pension. Under prior pension, the pension will be given at a reduced rate of 4% for every year for which the age is less after completing 58 years of age.

Suppose if someone was entitled to a pension of Rs 10,000 at the age of 58, then he will be given a pension of Rs 9,600 at the age of 57, with a reduction in the rate of pension by 4%. Similarly, at the age of 56, he will get a pension of Rs 9,216.

What is disability pension?

If the member leaves the job due to disability, then he can be given this type of pension. There is no minimum membership limit for this. Also, one month’s contribution is mandatory.

Pension to wife and 2 children

If the member dies unfortunately, then pension is given to his wife and two children. If there are more than two children, then pension is given to the first two children till they reach the age of 25. When the eldest son reaches the age of 25, his pension is stopped and the pension of the third child starts. This sequence continues till all the children reach the age of 25. For this also, one month’s contribution of the member is sufficient. On the other hand, if a child is disabled, he will get pension for life.

Orphan Pension

Under EPS 1995, if the member dies and the wife is also not alive, then his 2 children are given pension for 25 years.

Nominated Pension

This pension is given to the person nominated by the member. Under this pension scheme, nomination is possible only when no one is alive in the member’s family. Family means wife and children.

Parents Pension

If the pensioner is unmarried and dies. Also, the member has not nominated anyone, then the pension is given to his father. In the absence of the father, the pension is issued in the name of the mother.

It is worth noting that to avail the benefit of pension under EPS, it is necessary to apply online. If you do not apply for pension, then you will not get the benefit of pension. To get pension under EPS, Form 10D has to be filled.
