This messaging app of Meta company has stated in its recent India monthly report that from April 1, 2024 to April 30, 2024, it has closed about 71 lakh Indian accounts.

What was the reason for banning the account?

They have done this to prevent misuse and to make their platform secure. (WhatsApp Privacy) The company has also said that if users continue to break their rules, they will take action to close the account in the future as well.

WhatsApp used advanced technology

WhatsApp closed a total of 71 lakh 82 thousand accounts in the month of April. Out of these, WhatsApp closed 13 lakh 2 thousand accounts even before any complaint was received. Actually, WhatsApp tries to stop wrong activities in advance. For this, it uses advanced technology, so that any irregularity can be identified. This technology finds signals that indicate that an account can be used for wrong work.

Action taken on 6 accounts on complaint

It is worth noting that in April 2024, WhatsApp received a total of 10,554 complaints from users. These complaints were of many types, including account related problems, appeals on ban, app related problems and concerns about security. But, based on these complaints, action was taken on only 6 accounts. This shows that WhatsApp follows strict rules before closing any account.

WhatsApp is taking strict steps

The Indian accounts that WhatsApp has closed are actually part of their effort to comply with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) rules made in the year 2021. These rules ask companies to publish reports on what action they have taken on user complaints and violations of the law. WhatsApp’s latest report of June 2024 shows that it is taking strict steps to prevent wrongdoings with the help of user complaints and its own advanced technology.
