Monsoon 2024 Update Bihar-UP track: Even though there is intense heat in the entire North India including the national capital Delhi, but the monsoon is kind to South and Northeast India. The latest forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD) says that favorable conditions remain for the advancement of the southwest monsoon. Due to this, the monsoon is moving ahead of its scheduled time. So far it has advanced a lot in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana, Lakshadweep and Andaman Nicobar. Apart from this, the monsoon has also reached all the states of the Northeast.
The Meteorological Department has said that in the next one or two days, monsoon can bring heavy rains in many areas of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. Generally, the date of entry of monsoon in Bihar is June 10, but it can knock in the eastern part of the state about a week earlier. Based on the new satellite imagery, the line of monsoon seen today (Monday, June 3) is the area around Cooch Behar and Kishanganj in Bengal.
Meanwhile, IMD has predicted heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rains (115.5-204.4 mm) in Kerala and Mahe today (June 03, 2024) and has issued an orange alert. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Assam and Meghalaya and said that heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rains (115.5-204.4 mm) are likely between June 3 and 5. The department has also issued a similar alert for coastal Andhra Pradesh.
IMD has said in the latest bulletin that at present two cyclonic low pressure centers are formed, due to which heavy to very heavy rains can occur in many parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, one cyclonic circulation is active in the troposphere over the northeastern part of Assam, while the other circulation remains in and around Kerala. According to the Meteorological Department, due to this cyclonic condition, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many parts of Kerala, Mahe and Karnataka. Heavy rains have also been recorded in these areas on Sunday. Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru recorded 111.1 mm of rain on Sunday, which is a record breaking figure of 133 years.
According to the Meteorological Department, in the next five days, lightning and thunderstorms with strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph are expected at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places, a few places or one or two places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the next seven days. According to IMD, UP, MP and Chhattisgarh are also likely to get relief from heat and receive rain in the next two days.
In the last 24 hours, rain occurred at one or two places in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and at many places in Rayalaseema. The highest temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tirupati in Rayalaseema, the report said. On the other hand, the national capital Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is two degrees more than the average temperature of this season. Among the various weather stations in Delhi, Najafgarh recorded a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, while Narela recorded a temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius. Aya Nagar in south Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees, Ridge 43.7 degrees and Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy weather, hot winds at isolated places, dust storm and light rain with thunder in the capital Delhi on Monday. Along with this, strong winds are also expected to blow at a speed of 25 to 35 km per hour. The relative humidity level in Delhi was recorded between 29 percent and 44 percent on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the capital are likely to reach 44 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively on Monday.
Many places in Haryana and Punjab in North India also experienced severe heat on Sunday and with this the maximum temperature in Sirsa was recorded at 45.4 degree Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, Sirsa was the hottest place in Haryana. In other places of the state, Bhiwani recorded a maximum temperature of 45.1 degree Celsius, while Rohtak recorded a maximum temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius. Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 42.3 degree Celsius, Hisar 42.7 degree Celsius, while Gurugram and Faridabad recorded 42.5 degree Celsius and 43.9 degree Celsius respectively.
The maximum temperature in Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana, was recorded at 42.4 degree Celsius. At the same time, the maximum temperature in Bathinda, Punjab was recorded at 45.1 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Amritsar was 43.5 degree Celsius, Ludhiana 42.2 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Patiala was 42.6 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Gurdaspur was 43.4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Faridkot was 42.5 degrees Celsius.
