According to the traffic police, lakhs of vehicles travel between Delhi and Faridabad via Mathura Road every day. During peak hours, the pressure of vehicles is very high here. In such a situation, the repair work of Sarita Vihar flyover will be started by PWD from June 15. Earlier this work was to start from May 1, but it was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections. Now the traffic police has given approval for this work from June 15.
The traffic police made it clear that the repair work will be done in four phases. Due to this, the entire flyover will not be closed at one time. Only half the lane of the flyover will be closed in one direction, while vehicles will continue to run on the other half. Sources said that in the first phase, repair work will be done in the direction from Ashram to Faridabad, in the second phase, the remaining half of the flyover in this direction will be repaired. In the third and fourth phases, repair work will be done in the direction from Faridabad to Ashram.
There is a possibility of traffic being affected in these areas. Officials believe that people going to and coming from Sarita Vihar, Badarpur, New Friends Colony, Kalindi Kunj, Okhla, Faridabad etc. may face problems. The traffic police has advised the drivers to avoid going in this direction for a few days.
Alternative route
When repairs are done in the direction from Ashram to Faridabad
People going from Ashram Chowk to Badarpur and Faridabad can use road number 13A from Sarita Vihar slip road and take a U-turn from there and go via Mathura Road. Drivers going from Ashram to Noida can use the DND flyover from the ring road.
When work is done in the direction from Badarpur border to Ashram
To go to the ashram from Badarpur, one can go via Sarita Vihar flyover slip road via Okhla Estate Marg, Crown Plaza, from Badarpur one can go to the ashram using Mehrauli-Badarpur Road.
These arrangements will be made by the traffic police
● The U-turn on Road No. 13A will have to be widened so that vehicles can turn
● 20 marshals will have to be deployed in one shift to assist in traffic operations
● Proper lighting will have to be arranged along with signage boards related to repairs
● Heavy machinery will not be allowed here during the day
● No debris of any kind will be kept on the road during the work
