National Highways Toll: Big news for car owners, now toll monthly pass will be like train MST!

NH Toll Booth: If you have ever traveled by train, you will know about this. There is a provision of Monthly Season Ticket or MST for daily commuters in trains. This is cheaper for them and they also get rid of buying tickets every day. The same can be done for car owners on highways. Know what Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is saying.

New Delhi: If you travel by train, you will know that Indian Railways issues Monthly Season Ticket or MST pass to its daily passengers. Similarly, in the coming time, such monthly or annual passes can also be issued to car owners to use toll roads. While this will reduce the incidents of toll theft, it will also increase the government treasury. People will get relief from hassles, that is a different matter.

Where did the idea of monthly pass come from?

On Tuesday, an international workshop on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) was organized in Delhi. During this time, Road Transport and Highways Minister in the Central Government, Nitin Gadkari gave the idea of issuing monthly and annual passes to car owners for toll nakas. The Union Minister said that there is also a thought of issuing monthly and annual passes to car owners. Secretary Anurag Jain and NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav thought of this.

The hassle will end

Gadkari says that by issuing monthly or annual passes for toll nakas, the road builders will get money and the hassle will also end. The Transport Minister’s talk of issuing monthly passes to car owners is being seen as a positive thing in the coming times. In which such a system can be started at toll nakas. However, such monthly passes are still issued at some places in the country. But this monthly pass is only for the population living around the toll nakas. Such passes are issued by taking some money from them after ensuring their identity through their ID.

Work is being done on hybrid model

In the satellite based toll collection system, the department is initially working on a hybrid model. In which two lanes of the toll naka should be kept for vehicles paying satellite based toll and the rest for vehicles with the current system Fastag. Then as this GNSS based electronic toll collection increases. Gradually, all other lanes of the toll plaza should also be made satellite lanes.

Experts from many countries had come

Experts from many countries had also come to this workshop. The purpose was to find out how satellite-based toll can be collected from vehicles in India without stopping them at toll plazas. What other best practices are there in the world in this. So that the people of India can use the toll road by paying toll without any hassle. Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra and Ajay Tamta were also present in the workshop.
