Announcement of 8th Pay Commission possible in Budget 2024-25: Government employees may get good news

There may be an important announcement for government employees in Budget 2024-25. The central government has received the proposal of the 8th Pay Commission, which will review the existing salaries, allowances and benefits of government employees and pensioners. The proposal has been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government so that it can be included in the upcoming budget.

8th Pay Commission proposal

Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary, National Council of Employees (Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees), has written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary demanding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. A Central Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years, which reviews the salary structure, allowances and benefits of government employees and suggests necessary changes based on inflation.

Previous Pay Commission

The previous, 7th Pay Commission was constituted by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 28 February 2014. Its recommendations came into effect from 1 January 2016. This will be the first time during the tenure of the current government that a new pay commission will be constituted. As per the usual ten-year interval, the 8th Central Pay Commission is proposed to start from 1 January 2026. However, the government has not yet made a formal announcement about it.

Government can announce

With the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, central government employees and pensioners can get the benefit of a possible increase in their salary, allowances and pension. This will increase their purchasing power. This will improve the standard of living. The Modi government will have to ensure that the Pay Commission is constituted on time and its recommendations are in the interest of government employees and pensioners. The inclusion of this proposal in the Budget 2024-25 will send a positive message to government employees and they will be able to get the benefit of the proposed changes of the Pay Commission on time. Positive changes can be expected in the lives of government employees and pensioners with the announcement of the 8th Pay Commission in Budget 2024-25.
