Weather Update: Heavy rains are expected in Central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh, Telangana till July 20, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Odisha on July 19.
Rainfall Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a big update regarding the monsoon. It is predicted that there will be very heavy rains in the western, central, eastern and southern peninsular parts of India during the next 5 days. Currently, the monsoon trough is active and is south of its normal position. The Meteorological Department has said that it may remain south of its normal position during the next 3-4 days.
Where will it rain today
The Meteorological Department has informed that Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand are likely to receive good rains during the next five days.
Heavy rain alert in these states
According to IMD, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh, Telangana are likely to receive heavy rains till July 20, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Odisha on July 19. At the same time, very heavy rains may occur in Himachal Pradesh on July 21 and Uttarakhand on July 21 and 22.
The Meteorological Department has informed that there are chances of very heavy rains in Odisha, Marathwada on July 20, West Madhya Pradesh from July 20 to 22 and East Madhya Pradesh on July 21 and 22. Most of the northeastern states may also receive light to moderate rainfall during the next 5 days.
Red alert in coastal, south interior Karnataka, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada
Due to the influence of a low pressure area over central and adjoining northern Bay of Bengal, extremely heavy rains are expected over coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka for the next three days. On Thursday, the IMD has issued a red alert for July 19 and 20 for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and interior parts of south Karnataka.
