Indian Railway New Rules: Fine will be imposed for traveling with waiting ticket, know the new rule of Railways

Railway New Rules: If a passenger with a waiting ticket travels in a reserved coach, he will be fined Rs 440 and the Train Ticketing Officer (TT) can make him deboard mid-way.

Railway New Rules: Indian Railways has recently implemented new rules for passengers traveling on waiting tickets. Till now, passengers whose tickets were confirmed or RAC used to travel by taking waiting tickets in sleeper or AC. Due to this, passengers who had confirmed seats have to face problems. Due to overcrowding in the berths, many types of videos keep going viral on social media these days. Keeping this in mind, the Railways has taken such a decision.

How much will be the fine for traveling with a waiting ticket

Indian Railways has made a new rule to impose a heavy fine on those traveling without a confirmed ticket. If a passenger with a waiting ticket travels in a reserved coach, he will be fined Rs 440 and the Train Ticketing Officer (TT) can disembark him mid-way. Apart from this, the TT will have the right to send the passenger to the general compartment. On the other hand, if a passenger with a waiting ticket travels in a sleeper coach, he will be fined Rs 250 and will be disembarked at the next station.

If the ticket is in the waiting list, can you travel?

According to the railway rules, it is illegal to travel on a waiting list ticket. However, if you have taken the ticket from the window counter, then you can travel in the general compartment on a waiting list ticket. But, passengers on waiting list tickets booked online i.e. e-ticket are not allowed to board the train. If your waiting list ticket is online, then after the chart is prepared, IRCTC automatically cancels it and you get a refund. The refund amount comes to your account from which you made the payment at the time of reservation. It may take 3-4 days for the refund amount to come.

If your Tatkal ticket is also in the waiting list and is not confirmed till the day of travel, then also you cannot travel on that ticket. If the Tatkal is a waiting ticket, the ticket is automatically cancelled by the railways. On the other hand, if your ticket is RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), it means that you will get a seat in the train, but you will have to share the seat with another passenger. In this case, you can travel.

What are the new rules for waiting tickets

According to the new rules of Indian Railways, if you have bought a ticket from the window and that ticket remains in the waiting list, then you can cancel it and get the money back. But many passengers board the train to travel instead of cancelling it. Under the refund policy, the full amount of your ticket will be refunded after cancellation.

Most complaints on crowding in bogies even after ticket confirmation

In a few months, the railways have received more than 45 percent complaints from passengers, out of which the highest number of complaints are related to crowding in bogies even after ticket confirmation. This is causing great inconvenience to the passengers and damaging the image of the railways. Keeping these things in mind, traveling on waiting list tickets has been considered illegal.
