Graham Thorpe: Former legendary batsman passed away, breathed his last at such a young age

Graham Thorpe Died At 55: Former England batsman Graham Thorpe has passed away. He was ill for a long time. Thorpe breathed his last at the age of 55. Four days ago, on August 01, Thorpe celebrated his birthday. There was no disclosure about Thorpe’s illness, but according to media reports, he was battling illness for a long time. Thorpe played international cricket at a time when legendary Indian batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag used to play.

Thorpe was one of those England batsmen who played 100 Test matches. Thorpe’s death at the age of just 55 is indeed a matter of sadness for the cricket world. Thorpe played 5 Test matches against India. Apart from this, he also played against India in ODI matches.

Let us tell you that Graham Thorpe played international cricket for England from 1993 to 2005. During this time he played 100 Tests and 82 ODIs. While batting in 179 innings of Tests, he scored 6744 runs at an average of 44.66, in which his highest score was 200* runs. Thorpe scored 16 centuries and 39 half-centuries. Apart from this, he also bowled in 6 innings of Tests, but could not take any wicket.

While batting in 77 ODI innings, Thorpe scored 2380 runs at an average of 37.18. His highest score in ODIs was 89 runs. Thorpe scored a total of 21 half-centuries in ODIs. Apart from this, while bowling in 5 ODI innings, he also took 2 wickets.

Thorpe had a great coaching career too

Thorpe not only contributed to cricket with his batting, but he was also a great coach. In 2005, he coached South Wales. After this, he coached England Lions. Then in 2013, he became the batting coach of England’s ODI and T20 team. In this way, his coaching career progressed.
