On World Elephant Day, the domesticated elephants of Dudhwa were decorated in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. A marathon race was organised for the elephants. Later, the elephants were given a royal feast in which they were fed sugarcane, bananas, apples, papayas, pumpkins etc.
World Elephant Day was celebrated with great pomp in the Salukapur range of Palia, the internationally renowned Dudhwa Tiger Reserve Division. Dudhwa Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Dr. Ranga Raju T., trainee IFS Apoorv Dixit, Wildlife Warden Dudhwa Mahavir Singh etc., with the help of mahouts and fodder cutters, fed the elephants decorated in a charming manner with fruits like bananas, apples, guavas, pears etc., besides sweets and sugarcane etc. and caressed them.
On this occasion, many mahouts and fodder cutters narrated interesting stories while spending time with the elephants. On this occasion, Regional Range Officer South Sonaripur, Senior Project Officer World Nature Fund Rohit Ravi and many forest workers and all the elephant mahouts, fodder cutters etc. were present.
