In view of the increasing crowd of Buddhist tourists, there is a possibility of getting direct flights to countries like Japan, Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand apart from Nepal.
Work is going on to demolish the old building
Let us tell you that the new terminal is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,216 crore. The construction work was started in October 2018, but the plan got delayed due to Corona infection. The work of demolishing the old building started late, due to which the plan was also affected.
Warehouses, state hangars etc. have been demolished. After connecting the link bridge to the parking, the old terminal will be completely demolished. So far 65 percent of the work has been completed.
Five aerobridges and six parking lots
Along with the construction of five aerobridges in the new terminal building, six parking lots are also being prepared for aircraft. When the project is completed, the number of parking lots will increase to 11. G+5 multilevel parking for vehicles has been completed. Currently, ATC has been shifted to the new building.
At the same time, G+6 building has also been constructed for airport officials and employees, in which they have also started living.
