If you have not yet updated your Aadhar card information for free, then you have only 2 days left. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has given the facility to update the Aadhar card information for free till 14 September 2024. After this, a fee will have to be paid to update the information.
Why update Aadhaar card?
Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number based on your biometric and demographic information. If your Aadhaar card was issued 10 years ago and has not been updated yet, you are advised to submit your identity and address proof afresh. This is necessary to keep the information safe and correct.
How to update Aadhaar online:
- Visit the official website of UIDAI www.uidai.gov.in.
- Click on My Aadhaar and select Update Your Aadhaar.
- Go to the Update Aadhaar Details (Online) page and click on Document Update.
- Enter your UID number, captcha code and click on Send OTP.
- Login after entering the OTP.
- Select the information to be updated and fill in the correct information.
- Upload the scanned copy of the required document and click on Submit.
- You will get an Update Request Number (URN), from which you can track the status of the update.
- There is no fee for the online process, but biometric information (such as iris, fingerprints) cannot be updated online.
How to update Aadhaar offline:
- Download the Aadhaar enrolment form from the UIDAI website.
- Fill the form and submit it along with the required documents at the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre.
- Your biometric details will be taken there and you will receive a URN.
