UP Expressway: The work of UP’s Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway network is progressing rapidly. Once it is built, a journey of 8 hours will be reduced to 5 hours. The target is to complete it by 2026. 9 districts of UP will also benefit from its construction.

Ghaziabad: Another important project is going to be added to the rapidly growing expressway network in Uttar Pradesh. This expressway to be built from Ghaziabad to Kanpur will not only make travel easier, but will also give a new direction of development to the 9 districts connected to it.

Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway

This 380 km long Greenfield Expressway is being constructed from Ghaziabad to Kanpur, which has been named ‘Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway’. This expressway will reduce the distance from Ghaziabad to Kanpur to a great extent. At present, the journey from Delhi-Ghaziabad to Kanpur takes 7 to 8 hours. Whereas, after the construction of this expressway, this journey will be reduced to just 5.30 hours.

9 districts will be connected by this expressway

This expressway will connect 9 major districts like Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur. This will not only ease the traffic, but industrial centers will also be established in these districts. In the expressway plan, special areas are being identified for industries, which will promote regional development.

Greenfield Expressway…

The Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway is a greenfield project, whose initial construction will be of 4 lanes, but in future it can be expanded to 6 lanes. Its special feature is that this expressway can also be connected to Jewar Airport in Noida in future, which will further strengthen the connectivity of Kanpur.

Traffic management will improve

This expressway will connect to NH-9 (Ghaziabad-Hapur Highway) in the north and Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway in the south. Earlier, this project was planned to be built from Hapur to Kanpur, but now a 60 km long connector road will be constructed to connect Hapur to Meerut Expressway, which will provide better connectivity to both Hapur and Meerut.

Expected to be completed by 2026

The construction work of this expressway has started. According to media reports, it is planned to be completed by 2026. With the construction of the expressway, access from Delhi-NCR to Kanpur as well as other cities of UP will also become easier, which will bring a big change in the traffic and industrial scenario of the state.
