IPL 2025 auction dates announced: The dates for the mega auction of players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 have been announced. The auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 24 and 25 November 2024. The auction program will be organized at Abadi Al Johar Arena (also known as Benchmark Arena) in Jeddah. At the same time, Hotel Shangri-La, located 10 minutes away from here, will have accommodation for players and others. The IPL Authority has informed that their operations team will be in touch with all the players and other staff for visa and logistics requirements.
In fact, all 10 franchises had released the list of their retained players. After this everyone was waiting for the announcement of the auction dates. Crores of cricket fans were waiting for this moment. Now after the announcement of the dates, everyone is waiting to see which franchise bids how much on which player. Before the official announcement of the date and place of the auction, it was being said that the auction of players would be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. However, the auction will be held in Jeddah.
A total of 1574 cricketers, including 1165 Indian players, have registered for this auction ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025.
10 franchises will be able to spend 641.5 crores
Let us tell you that this year’s auction is very big, in which India’s high profile stars like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh are going to participate. The 10 franchises will have a total of around Rs 641.5 crore to spend for 204 slots. Out of these 204 slots, 70 are reserved for foreign players. So far, 10 franchises have retained 46 players, whose total expenditure is Rs 558.5 crore.

BCCI had changed the retention rules
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently issued new rules regarding retention. According to this, a franchise can retain a maximum of 6 players. If a team has retained less than 6 players, then in that case the franchise will get a chance to use the Right to Match (RTM) card during the auction.
