Employees Holiday: Good news! Government employees will get the benefit of more than 50 holidays in the new year, offices will remain closed!

Gazetted holidays are those holidays which are recognized as mandatory in all government offices. Employees can choose restricted holidays as per their wish. Employees can choose these holidays for their family or on occasions.

Govt Employees Holiday 2025: There is good news for central government officials and employees. The central government has released the list of holidays for the year 2025. This list includes a total of two types of holidays – gazetted (compulsory) holidays and restricted (optional) holidays. Under this, next year the employees will get the benefit of 17 gazetted and 34 restricted holidays.

Let us tell you that gazetted holidays are mandatory in every government office. Employees do not get any kind of exemption in these holidays and they will be implemented equally in all government offices. At the same time, restricted holidays depend on the wish of the employees. This list is recognized in all government offices, so that the employees are aware of the holidays in advance. Employees can choose these holidays for their family or occasions.

List of Gazetted Holidays (2025)

Republic Day – 26 January (Sunday), Holi – 14 March (Friday), Eid-ul-Fitr – 31 March (Monday), Mahavir Jayanti – 10 April (Thursday), Good Friday – 18 April (Friday), Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) – 7 June (Saturday), Buddha Purnima – 12 May (Monday), Muharram – 6 July (Sunday), Independence Day – 15 August (Friday), Milad-un-Nabi (Eid-e-Milad) – 5 September (Friday), Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti – 2 October (Thursday), Dussehra – 2 October (Thursday), Diwali – 20 October (Monday), Guru Nanak Jayanti – 5 November (Wednesday), Christmas – 25 December (Thursday)

List of Restricted Holidays (Optional):

Employees can avail 12 optional holidays as per their choice, out of which they are allowed to choose 3 holidays. Holi, Janmashtami (Vaishnav), Ram Navami, Mahashivratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, Makar Sankranti, Rath Yatra, Onam, Pongal, Sri Panchami / Vasant Panchami, Vishu / Vaisakhi / Bhag Bihu / Ugadi / Chaitra Shukla Paksha / Cheti Chand / Gudi Padwa / Pahla Navratra / Karva Chauth. Employees can choose these optional holidays keeping in mind their personal religious, cultural or family festivals.
