All banks will remain closed on Tuesday 12th

All banks are going to remain closed in Uttarakhand on Tuesday 12th November. Igas-Bagwal festival will be celebrated in Uttarakhand on 12th November. Igas, also known as Bagwal, is a traditional festival of Uttarakhand. Igas Bagwal is celebrated 11 days after Diwali. This festival is celebrated with great pomp especially in the Garhwal region and many folk traditions are associated with it. It is believed that the information about Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya was received a little late in the mountains, so the local people celebrate it as Deep Parv a few days after Diwali. On this day, lamps are lit in homes and temples, devotional songs are sung, and Bhailo, a traditional game celebrated with burning wooden torches, is played.

What happens on the day of Igas-Bagwal

On the day of Igas-Bagwal, special dishes are made in rural areas, such as Urad Pakoda, Bhat Pakoda and many types of sweets. On this day, group dance, song-music and folk drama are also organized, in which local people participate dressed in traditional costumes. Understanding the importance of this festival, the Uttarakhand government has declared it a public holiday in the state, so that people can go to their villages and families to celebrate their cultural heritage. Igas-Bagwal is not just a festival, but it is a symbol of the culture and tradition of the people of Uttarakhand, which keeps them connected to their roots.
