Railway Rules: Good news for passengers! Train tickets for Metro and Namo Bharat will be booked together

NCRTC and DMRC Ticket Launch: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday, November 18, 2024 officially launched their integrated QR-ticketing system.

NCRTC and DMRC Ticket Launch: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officially launched their integrated QR-ticketing system on Monday, November 18, 2024. This historic initiative aims to make travel in Delhi-NCR more easy and convenient. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NCRTC and DMRC in August this year with the aim of creating an integrated, and digitally driven passenger-centric network in Delhi-NCR. This initiative is a step in the same direction.

Delhi Metro and Namo Bharat tickets will be booked from one platform

Passengers can now book QR code tickets for Delhi Metro through the ‘RRTS Connect’ app and QR code tickets for Namo Bharat through the ‘DMRC Momentum 2.0’ app. This will enable seamless ticketing in both RRTS and Delhi Metro.

The integration of RRTS and DMRC networks will be further strengthened with this newly launched QR-ticketing system and will ensure a seamless travel experience in NCR. Both the transport systems are being connected under multi-modal integration. The regional transit services provided by Namo Bharat and intra-city transit services provided by Delhi Metro together form a comprehensive and efficient transit network. This seamless connectivity not only makes travel convenient but also encourages the use of public transport, thereby contributing to the long-term sustainability of these essential transit projects.

Good news for millions of commuters

This integration is a major step towards NCRTC’s goal of providing efficient, sustainable and passenger-centric transport solutions in NCR. In line with the Government’s ‘One India-One Ticket’ initiative, which aims to make inter-modal travel as convenient as possible for passengers, this initiative will simplify the ticketing process. By integrating NaMo Bharat and Metro travel options into a single digital platform, this initiative will significantly enhance connectivity for millions of passengers in NCR.

NCRTC is playing a vital role in shaping the transport landscape of the region with the implementation of the RRTS project. This integration is expected to reduce ticket queues at stations of both NaMo Bharat and Delhi Metro transport systems, save valuable time of passengers, promote digital transactions and eco-friendly travel options, and provide passengers a more seamless and time-efficient travel experience.

MoU with IRCTC too

NCRTC has also signed a similar MoU with IRCTC under which passengers can book NaMo Bharat train tickets along with Indian Railways train tickets through the IRCTC platform. This will not only make it easier for passengers to get tickets but will also save their time.

NCRTC Managing Director, Shalabh Goyal and DMRC Managing Director, Dr. Vikas Kumar officially launched this integrated ticketing system by booking Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro tickets on the mobile app. He expressed confidence that this digital integration will not only ease the journey of passengers but will also encourage the use of public transport in the National Capital Region.

42 km long corridor of RRTS

This initiative is also in line with the ‘PM National Gati Shakti Master Plan’, which aims to promote integration of infrastructure and seamless connectivity between various transport modes. With the 42 km corridor of RRTS now operational and the addition of the 393 km DMRC metro network, passengers can enjoy an integrated and efficient travel experience. This integration will reduce congestion on the roads as well as ensure a cleaner and more sustainable future for the National Capital Region.
