Why will banks remain closed on November 20?
Voting is going to be held in Maharashtra for the assembly on November 20. Due to voting, RBI has decided to keep banks closed in Mumbai, Nagpur, Belapur. However, banks will remain open in the rest of the state. Online banking services will not be affected due to the closure of banks. ATS service will continue. People will be able to easily do online transactions and transactions. Digital banking and UPI platforms will also remain operational.
Stock markets will remain closed
There will be no trading in the stock market on November 20 due to Maharashtra elections. NSE had said in its notification dated November 8 that the exchange will remain closed on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 due to assembly elections in Maharashtra. Due to the closure of trading sessions, there will be no trading in equity, equity derivatives and SLB segments on BSE and NSE. Trading will also be closed in the currency derivatives segment. Apart from this, trading will also remain closed on November 20 on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity Exchange (NCDEX).
4 days dry day
Due to Maharashtra assembly elections, there is a four-day dry day in Mumbai. Sale of liquor has been banned for four days this week. To conduct elections in a peaceful manner, the Election Commission has ordered to stop the sale of liquor. The purpose of the Election Commission is to prevent the temptation of liquor among voters during voting. For this, the Aayog has banned the sale of liquor after 6 pm on November 18 in Mumbai and other cities including Thane and Pune. There will be a dry day in the city on November 19 and due to voting on November 20, the sale of liquor will be banned throughout the day. Apart from this, the Election Commission has imposed a partial liquor ban till 6 pm on November 23. Apart from this, schools, colleges and government offices will also remain closed.
