This claim has been found to be false in the investigation. Earlier also there have been reports that the government has no proposal to increase the retirement age of central employees.

A letter titled ‘Retirement Age Increase 2024, increase in retirement age by 2 years, approval received in cabinet meeting’ is going viral. It is being claimed that the name of the scheme is ‘Retirement Age Increase Scheme’, under which the retirement age has been increased by 2 years to 62 years from April 1, 2025. It is being claimed that its beneficiaries will be ‘all central employees’.
What is the truth
PIB i.e. Press Information Bureau has declared this claim as fake. Information was given by PIB on Tuesday, ‘It is being claimed in the news going viral on social media that the Government of India has decided to increase the retirement age of central employees by 2 years. This claim is fake. The Government of India has not taken any such decision.’ Along with this, instructions have been given not to share news without checking its veracity.
What did the government say
In August 2023, a question was asked in the Lok Sabha regarding the retirement age whether there is any proposal to change the retirement age of government employees or not. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh answered this. He had said, ‘There is no proposal under consideration regarding the retirement age of central employees.’
