Uber Shikara Rolls Out: App based taxi service provider Uber has started a new initiative for tourists visiting Kashmir. Under this, now not only taxis can be booked in Srinagar, but ‘Shikara’ can also be booked for a trip to Dal Lake.
Uber Shikara Rolls Out: You must have booked an Uber taxi and enjoyed the journey, but if you are going to visit Kashmir, now you can book not only a taxi but also a Shikara for yourself in Dal Lake of Srinagar and enjoy the ride. App-based taxi service Uber has launched water transport service in India. According to the company, it has been started to give a new and comfortable experience to the tourists coming to Srinagar.
Uber Shikara service started on Monday
Uber Shikara service was started in Srinagar on Monday. Through this, now the tourists coming here will get the option to pre-book their Shikara ride for a ride in the famous Dal Lake through the Uber app. So that they will be able to enjoy the natural beauty here comfortably during the busy holiday season.
All the money goes to the Shikara drivers
Along with starting water tourism service on its app, Uber has also clarified that it will not charge any fee for the Shikara rides booked through its app, rather the entire money will be transferred to the Shikara drivers, which will create additional economic opportunities for the tourism workers working on the ground level in Jammu and Kashmir.
You can also book a Shikara 15 days in advance
According to Uber, every Uber Shikara ride booked through the app can be booked for 1 hour and a maximum of 4 passengers can sit in a Shikara and enjoy the beauty of Dal Lake. Along with this, the company has also shared complete information regarding pre-booking. According to this, Uber Shikara rides can be booked 12 hours in advance and up to 15 days in advance.

On the launch of Uber Shikara, Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh said that this service is a confluence of tradition and technology. Through this, tourists coming to Srinagar will not have to face problems for Shikara ride and will be able to book easily through the Uber app. He said that for the first time for the ride on Dal Lake, Uber also introduced a travel insurance for all Shikara passengers, which is to ensure that the passengers get a comfortable ride as well as peace of mind.
Booking is very easy
- Update your Uber App and then click on the icon of the new service to open it.
- Choose Shikara Ghat No. 16 as the pickup point and select the drop point and click on Uber Shikara.
- Select the time and date (10 AM to 5 PM only) and then complete the booking by clicking on the ‘Book’ option.
