CBSE Board Class 10th News in Hindi: CBSE Board will soon make some important changes in the syllabus of class 10th. Like mathematics, there will now be two levels of study for science and social science subjects. One will be ‘standard’ and the other ‘basic’ level syllabus. This system is planned to be implemented from the 2026-27 session.
CBSE Board: Another big news has come for the class 10th students of CBSE board. The Central Board of Secondary Education is planning to introduce two types of syllabus for science and social science subjects of class 10th. At present, CBSE gives two levels of syllabus for mathematics in class 10th. These are ‘Standard Mathematics (Code: 041)’ and ‘Basic Mathematics (Code: 241)’. According to a report, from the academic session of 2026-27, students will also get a chance to choose ‘Standard’ and ‘Basic’ level syllabus for science and social science subjects.
This initiative has recently been approved in the meeting of the CBSE curriculum committee. The CBSE syllabus committee is still awaiting the final approval of the governing body. Its purpose is to give more options to the students in studies and reduce the burden of studies. Students have been seeing this model in mathematics before.
Two-level syllabus in Mathematics already:
CBSE currently offers two levels of Mathematics course in Class 10 – ‘Standard’ (Advanced) and ‘Basic’. According to reports, 6,79,560 students have opted for Basic Mathematics and 15,88,041 students have opted for Standard Mathematics in the registration for the 2023-24 board exams. The syllabus of both the subjects is the same and the same NCERT book is used in both but there is a difference in the level and type of difficulty in the paper.
Basic Mathematics is expected to have easy, high-marking questions. Standard Mathematics has application-based, analytical questions that require a deep understanding of the concept.
Some similar changes can now be seen in the level of Science and Social Science exams, although it is not clear at the moment whether only the question paper will be different for these two new subjects or the books for these two subjects of Class 10 are also going to be different.
