Luggage limit according to coach
- You can carry luggage weighing 40 to 70 kg with you in the train. However, it is decided on the basis of the category of the coach how much luggage a passenger can carry in which category.
- If you are traveling in sleeper class, then according to the rules of the railways, you can carry up to 40 kg of luggage. But, if you travel with more luggage than the prescribed limit, you may be fined.
- If you travel in the third AC of the train, then you can carry luggage weighing up to 40 kg with you. In the second AC, this limit has been fixed at 50 kg.
- Apart from this, if you travel in the first AC coach of the train, then you can carry luggage weighing up to 70 kg with you. If you want to travel in the train with more luggage than this, then for this you have to book a luggage van.
Railway strict after stampede incident
Actually, there was a stampede at Bandra station during Diwali in Mumbai. About 9 passengers were injured in this accident. After this, Western Railway had issued some guidelines to reduce overcrowding in trains and stations.
During this, the Western Railway official said that it is often seen that passengers come to the stations with a lot of luggage and board the trains. Due to excess luggage, the congestion at the station increases, and passengers also face difficulty in moving in and out of the train.
