Noida Golden Line Metro: Many plans are underway to improve the connectivity of Noida Airport. In this sequence, consideration has been started to connect the Golden Line Metro. After it connects to Kalindi Kunj, there will be direct connectivity to the Botanical Garden. This project is expected to be completed in three years.
Golden Line Metro: Work has started on a plan to provide excellent connectivity to the under-construction Jewar International Airport in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. A new plan has been started to consider metro connectivity to the airport. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has started considering connecting the Golden Line from Aerocity to Kalindi Kunj to ease connectivity to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) and Noida International Airport. The Golden Line is currently proposed from Aerocity to Tughlakabad. It is being told that after it is connected to Kalindi Kunj, there will be direct connectivity to the Botanical Garden. Actually, there will be a five kilometer elevated track from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. To connect Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj, Sarita Vihar, Madanpur Khadar and another station will need to be built. DMRC has proposed Rs 953 crore to the Yamuna Authority for the construction of this five kilometer long track. It has also been argued that joining of Golden Line and Magenta Line at Kalindi Kunj will provide connectivity to Botanical Garden.
Decision on Aqua Line Extension
A decision has been taken to connect Aqua Line from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden. Due to which in future this five kilometer track will become a means of easy connectivity to Indira Gandhi International Airport and Noida International Airport for the people of Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi and nearby areas.
With the Aqua Line connecting to Botanical, there will be direct connectivity from Delhi to Greater Noida. There is an emphasis on starting e-buses and other facilities from Pari Chowk to the airport. In such a situation, passengers going to Jewar Airport or IGI will not have to face any problem.
What do the officials say
Yamuna Authority CEO Dr. Arunvir Singh said that consideration on this proposal has started. Soon it will be placed at the government level. In a short time, it will be a better option to connect people to IGI and Noida Airport. However, the track is to be constructed in Delhi, so government approval is required before spending the budget.
The CEO said that soon this proposal will be placed before the Chief Minister. The CEO says that a direct rapid rail track will be built from Noida International Airport to Ghaziabad. On this route, the metro will make connectivity between the two airports easier.
What is the plan?
There is a plan to connect Jewar with better connectivity. Where operations will start from Noida International Airport from next year. Before this, the airport’s metro link with Delhi’s IGI airport can see a lot of improvement. DMRC has planned to make a direct connection to Aerocity by extending the Gold Line to Kalindi Kunj. From there, after the interchange, it has been proposed to Terminal 3. The Golden Line is in the final stage of construction. It connects Aerocity and Tughlakabad.
Golden Line trains can be brought to Kalindi Kunj by extending 5 km from Tughlakabad. If this proposal is accepted and funds are received for the plan, then Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden across the Yamuna will become the center points of the city’s metro grid. The estimated cost of this plan is Rs 950 crore.
The proposal has been passed
There are Magenta Line stations at both places in Noida. Botanical Garden is already a major interchange station for the Blue and Magenta lines. At the same time, it will become a trijunction after the construction of the 11 km long expressway leg of the Aqua Line of Noida Metro starting from Sector-142. The proposal in this regard has been passed and central approval is awaited. The Magenta Line goes directly to Terminal-1 of IGI. A walkway from the T1 station connects to the T1 station of the Airport Express Line.
Therefore, it already gives the city direct and indirect connectivity from both terminals. The proposed Gold Line extension will open a second metro route to the IGI airport. Apart from this, there will also be access to the Blue Line through the Botanical Garden. This proposal is being studied seriously.
This is because combined with the expressway leg of the Aqua Line, it will extend the metro grid to Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. It will to some extent fill the lack of mass transport from NCR’s second international airport at Jewar. Pari Chowk and Jewar are 40 kilometers away. Noida International Airport announced last week that it will start its taxi service. Noida is also exploring the possibility of connecting the new airport to other important places by bus.
There is a plan to connect it to Namo Bharat
Other proposals have also been prepared to connect Noida Airport to other parts of NCR. Making a rapid rail corridor from Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Line is part of long term planning, work is going on on these. The DMRC proposal comes after Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) CEO Arunvir Singh discussed options for metro rail connectivity between Noida Airport and IGI along the Noida Expressway with DMRC officials.
Initially, the DMRC had prepared a detailed project report (DPR) to connect NIA to IGI Airport via the expressway. However, the proposal was shelved after the UP government considered the rapid rail option. There is a plan to build a 72 km corridor connecting Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and Noida Airport. It has also been considered economically better and capable of serving a large population.
Now the proposal for the corridor has come
After discussion, DMRC Chief Project Manager Shiv Om Dwivedi wrote a letter to the CEO on December 13 proposing a 5 km long elevated Gold Line corridor. This will boost connectivity with Pari Chowk in future. DMRC has suggested building two metro stations at Sarita Vihar Depot and Madanpur Khadar on this extension. Arunvir Singh said that the proposal will be presented before CM Yogi Adityanath for approval.
The CEO said that the future of this project depends on the review of the proposal at the CM’s level and the way to raise funds for it. He said that the Rapid Rail may take more than five years to become operational, but this metro project will provide connectivity between IGI and Pari Chowk within three years.
