Electricity News: The Uttar Pradesh government has given a big relief to electricity consumers, under this scheme, interest on consumers’ outstanding electricity bills will be waived. This step is a big effort in the direction of public interest, which will provide relief to lakhs of families.
Electricity Bill Discount: Giving a big relief to domestic electricity consumers, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced the UP Domestic Electricity Bill Waiver Scheme 2024. The objective of this scheme of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is to provide relief to the consumers burdened with outstanding electricity bills. Under the scheme, the interest on electricity bills will be waived. This scheme will be applicable from 15 December 2024 to 31 January 2025 and more than 67 lakh consumers will get benefit in it.
Benefits in Electricity Bill Waiver Scheme
Under this scheme, interest will be waived on the outstanding electricity bills of consumers. Maximum discount will be given on depositing the outstanding bills in the first phase of the scheme. In the second and third phases, the discount will be reduced by up to 10%.
– Bill up to ₹ 5000: 100% interest waiver.
– Bill from ₹ 5000 to ₹ 60000: 70% interest waiver.
– Consumers with electricity consumption of more than 1 kW: 60% interest waiver.
– Business and small industries: 50% interest waiver.
Installment option for depositing electricity bill
Under the scheme, consumers have been given the facility to pay the bill in lump sum as well as in installments. With this, consumers will be able to pay according to their financial condition.
How to get the benefit of the scheme?
To avail the scheme, consumers have to deposit their outstanding electricity bills from 15 December 2024 to 31 January 2025. The sooner the bill is deposited, the more discount will be available.
