New Delhi: IRCTC website went down again today. Officials said that it was down for about 50 minutes. This caused problems for passengers in booking tickets. This is the third time this month that IRCTC’s website and app have faced problems. A message was available on the website which said that maintenance work is currently underway. There will be no booking for the next 1 hour. Officials said that there was a problem with the website from 10:03 am to 10:51 am but now it is working fine. However, users are still facing problems in the app. They have vented their anger on social media.
Earlier on 9 December and 26 December, IRCTC’s app and website were down for several hours. About 12.5 lakh tickets are sold daily through IRCTC. About 84% of the total railway tickets are booked through IRCTC’s website and app. Ticket booking for AC Tatkal starts at 10 am on IRCTC’s website. Non-AC booking starts one hour later, i.e. from 11 am.
Anger erupted on social media
Many users have expressed their anger on social media when IRCTC’s app and website went down. Users are unable to digest this. They say that there is no justification for website and app maintenance during peak time. A user named Brij Mohan tagged IRCTC on x and wrote that your tour service has not lived up to expectations. Booking Tatkal tickets is a very bad experience. The situation was the same 10 years ago and the situation is the same even today. There is no point in running such a service. Similarly, a user named Rupesh Yadav wrote that why can’t the government think of an immediate alternative solution for this. There is always trouble in Tatkal booking. What is the use of such a system which cannot fulfill its purpose.
