Agra-Lucknow Expressway: The Uttar Pradesh government is going to start the renovation work of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. It will soon be converted from 6 lanes to 8 lanes. The redevelopment work of the expressway is estimated to cost around Rs 1939 crore. There are 8 districts between the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which include Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Unnao.
Responsibility handed over to UPDA
The work of repairing the 302 km long and 6 lane wide Agra-Lucknow Expressway has been given to the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting, where the Industrial Development Department passed several proposals. For this, a budget of Rs 1939 crore has been prepared for its repair in the next 5 years.
One of the main reasons for expanding the 8 lanes is said to be the safety of the passengers, for this cameras will be installed at places where there is a greater risk of accidents. Let us tell you that Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary of UP Government, inspected the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on 29 November 2024. Apart from this, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand also prepared a report after inspecting the 65 km route of the expressway.
Expressway route
The Agra-Lucknow Expressway passes through Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi and Unnao districts. There are a total of 10 districts and 236 villages in between. Vehicles can run at a speed of more than 100 kmph on this expressway. A total of 4 rail over bridges, 13 big bridges, 57 small bridges, 74 vehicle underpasses, 148 pedestrian underpasses and 9 flyovers have been built. It takes about 3 hours to reach Lucknow from Agra.
