Free Electricity: It has now become even easier to avail the benefits of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna. The government has included two new payment models in this scheme, through which solar panels can be installed on the roof of your house without spending a single penny.

Free Electricity: A big update has come regarding PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna, which was started with the aim of providing free electricity to the people. The government has issued new guidelines for this, after which it has become even easier to take advantage of this scheme. Let us tell you that in this government scheme, along with 300 units of free electricity, subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 is also available. Talking about the latest change, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has approved two more payment options for installing solar panels on the roof of your house under the PM Surya Ghar Scheme. Let us know how these will be beneficial…

No problem of money in installing solar panels

Under the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, the New and Renewable Energy Ministry of the Central Government has approved the use of two new payment options in this scheme. In the new guidelines related to this scheme, those who are willing to install solar panels on the roof of their house can start taking advantage of the scheme under the new payment plan without spending a single rupee. The objective of the government is that the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana should not face shortage of money during the expenses incurred in installing solar panels.

Both new models will make work easier

If we look at the working methods of both the new payment models under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, then under the first RESCO model, a third party organization will install solar panels on the roof of your house and you will not have to pay a single penny for getting it installed. In this method, after the panel is installed, you will have to pay the bill for the electricity that you will use through the solar panel. Apart from this, in the second ULA (Utility-led Aggregation) model, organizations nominated by the Discom or the state government will install solar panels at your house. You will not have to spend any money in this either.

Under the new guidelines brought by the government, now the beneficiaries will have more ease. This process has been made even more transparent through the National Portal. With this, the beneficiary will be able to get the benefit of his subsidy in every situation. In the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, a fund of Rs 100 crore has been set aside for Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) to de-risk the investment in RESCO based grid-connected rooftop solar panels in residential areas.

Up to how much subsidy is available?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in February 2024. Under this scheme, up to 300 units of free electricity is available and along with this, a strong subsidy is also given by the government for installing solar rooftop on the roof of your house. On installing Solar Rooftop, the government transfers money directly to the bank account. This reduces the burden of installing solar panels. The government provides a subsidy of Rs 30,000 on a panel up to 2 kW, Rs 48,000 on a panel of 3 kW and Rs 78,000 on a panel of more than 3 kW.
